Pokémon Counters Finder

Search a Pokémon or defensive type combination to find practical counter Pokémon, move types, defensive notes, and related matchup guides.

Counters vs. weaknesses

A weakness chart tells you which attacking types deal extra damage. A counter guide goes one step further by asking which Pokémon can actually apply that pressure while surviving the defender's own STAB attacks.

NationalDex counter pages combine the modern Gen 6+ type chart with STAB value, defensive switch-in safety, base Speed, offensive stats, and bulk. That makes the recommendations more practical than a type chart alone.

Use the search box for a specific Pokémon, or open a type combination below when you want matchup guidance for a whole defensive typing.

Use the type selector

Single-type pages are useful for broad matchups. Dual-type pages are more precise because they account for stacked weaknesses, resistances, and immunities, such as Fire/Flying creating a 4x Rock weakness.

How counters are calculated

Counter rankings combine super-effective attacking types, STAB value, defensive switch-in safety against the target's own STAB types, and base stats for offense, Speed, and bulk. Abilities, items, Terastallization, weather, terrain, and exact learnsets can still change real battles.
