Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 Walkthrough
Follow required sequel progression, major battles, useful encounters and Black 2 / White 2 differences.
This concise walkthrough covers required story progression, major battles, useful encounters and important version differences without listing every optional item or Trainer. The sequels begin in Aspertia City, resolve the Neo Team Plasma and Kyurem crisis, and finish the League against Champion Iris.
Requirements
Use Pokémon Black 2 or Pokémon White 2; this is not the original Black and White route.
Keep access to Surf and Strength for required main-story traversal; other field moves mainly support optional exploration.
Memory Link, transferred Keys and Dream Radar content require their original external save, hardware or version connections and are not assumed for normal progression.
Aspertia City, Floccesy Town and Virbank City
Begin in Aspertia City
Recommended level 5–8. Receive Snivy, Tepig or Oshawott and the Pokédex from Bianca, meet Hugh and travel through Route 19 to Floccesy Town. Continue to Floccesy Ranch, recover the missing Herdier and confront the first Neo Team Plasma Grunt.
Defeat Cheren at Aspertia Gym
Recommended level 11–14. Complete Alder's training-school task in Floccesy, return to Aspertia and defeat Cheren's Normal-type team for the Basic Badge. Riolu from Floccesy Ranch is a useful early option, though training it is not required.
Earn Roxie's Toxic Badge and visit Pokéstar Studios
Recommended level 15–18. Cross Route 20 to Virbank, clear the Team Plasma event at Virbank Complex and challenge Roxie's Poison-type team. Magnemite from the Complex resists her attacks. Complete the required Pokéstar Studios introduction before the ship route opens.
Castelia City and Nimbasa City
Investigate Castelia Sewers
Recommended level 22–24. Sail to Castelia, join Hugh in the Sewers and confront Neo Team Plasma before challenging Burgh's Bug-type Gym. Obtain Strength in the Sewers area and catch options such as Eevee or Sandile nearby if they fit the team.
Cross Route 4 and challenge Elesa
Recommended level 28–31. Pass through Join Avenue and the version-different Route 4 construction area, complete the required Multi Battle against Ingo and Emmet, then enter Elesa's runway Gym. Ground coverage helps, but Emolga again requires a non-Ground answer.
Driftveil City and the Pokémon World Tournament
Defeat Clay
Recommended level 31–34. Cross Driftveil Drawbridge, resolve the old and new Team Plasma confrontation and challenge Clay's Ground-type team. Water and Grass attacks help against most of the team, while Excadrill needs a reliable answer.
Complete the mandatory Driftveil Tournament
After Clay, travel south to the Pokémon World Tournament and win the introductory bracket. This first PWT visit is required story progression; most expanded tournaments are optional later. Follow Hugh and Cheren to the Plasma Frigate afterward.
Chargestone Cave, Mistralton City and Lentimas Town
Obtain Surf and cross Chargestone Cave
Recommended level 35–39. Continue through Route 6, receive Surf from Cheren and use it where the sequel story requires water traversal. Visit Chargestone Cave, meet Professor Juniper in Mistralton and climb Celestial Tower before challenging Skyla's Flying-type team.
Fly to Lentimas and cross Reversal Mountain
Travel with Skyla to Lentimas Town, explore Strange House if desired and cross Reversal Mountain with Bianca. The interior differs between Black 2 and White 2. Continue through Undella Town, Route 13 and Lacunosa Town while following the Neo Team Plasma story.
Opelucid City and Humilau City
Earn the Legend Badge from Drayden
Recommended level 45–48. Reach Opelucid through Village Bridge and Route 11, then prepare Ice- or Dragon-type pressure for Drayden. After the Gym, Neo Team Plasma freezes the city; defeat the Grunts and Zinzolin, then follow the stolen DNA Splicers investigation.
Earn Marlon's Wave Badge
Recommended level 49–52. Reach Humilau City through the Marine Tube, explore the lily-pad Gym and defeat Marlon's Water-type team. Electric and Grass coverage are useful, but account for secondary typings. Follow Route 22 and receive the Colress MCHN before entering Seaside Cave.
Plasma Frigate and Giant Chasm
Board the Plasma Frigate
Use Surf and Strength during the late route and ship progression, solve the Frigate barriers and passwords, and defeat Zinzolin and Colress. Black 2 and White 2 use different Frigate layouts, so follow the map for the correct version rather than assuming one switch order fits both.
Resolve the Kyurem crisis
At Giant Chasm, Neo Team Plasma fuses Kyurem with N's Zekrom in Black 2 or N's Reshiram in White 2. Defeat the fused Kyurem, then defeat Ghetsis. The story opponent cannot be caught here; the normal Kyurem capture becomes available only after later post-game steps.
Victory Road, Pokémon League and Champion Iris
Cross Victory Road
Recommended level 53–57. Enter from Route 23, use the required field moves and follow the ruins toward the League. Battle Hugh near the exit, restore PP and prepare separate answers for the Ghost-, Dark-, Psychic- and Fighting-type Elite Four.
Defeat Champion Iris
Recommended level 55–59. Defeat the Elite Four in any order, then challenge Iris. Her team is Dragon-centered rather than mono-type, so Ice coverage alone is not a complete plan; prepare for Haxorus, fast attackers and broad coverage. Enter the Hall of Fame to open the post-game.
Post-game entry points
- Return to Nuvema Town for Professor Juniper's Pokédex evaluations and Cedric Juniper's Super Rod.
- Challenge Alder in Floccesy Town to unlock Black Tower in Black 2 or White Treehollow in White 2.
- Meet N at his castle, follow him to Dragonspiral Tower and catch Zekrom in Black 2 or Reshiram in White 2; Kyurem then becomes available in Giant Chasm.
- The Pokémon World Tournament expands with regional Leaders, World Leaders, type experts and Champions as tournament conditions are cleared.
