Black Tower and White Treehollow Guide
Clear the sequel's version-specific escalating battle areas and understand Key restrictions.
Black Tower is native to Black 2's Black City and White Treehollow to White 2's White Forest. After entering the Hall of Fame, defeat Alder in Floccesy Town to unlock ten escalating Areas; Area 10 leads to Benga and the native-version shiny reward.
Requirements
Enter the Hall of Fame in Black 2 or White 2.
Defeat Alder at his Floccesy Town house, then travel to Black City or White Forest and begin Area 1.
Do not assume the counterpart facility is available without its transferred Key.
Facility relationship

Area progression
Find the Gate Trainer
Each of the ten Areas contains one or more floors with randomly arranged Trainers. Defeat Trainers and use their clues to identify the Gate Trainer; defeating that Trainer unlocks the route to the Boss Trainer.
Find the Boss Trainer
Use the remaining clues to locate the Boss Trainer's room and win the fixed three-Pokémon boss battle. Clearing the Boss returns the player to the entrance and awards an Area item.
Advance and prepare
Opponent levels and floor complexity rise with each Area. One Doctor per floor can heal the party once after being defeated, but the Doctor is never the Gate Trainer. Plan PP and healing around that limited recovery.
Rules and difficulty
- Trainers do not provide a fixed straight-line route; information from defeated trainers helps locate targets.
- Leaving an unfinished Area resets that Area's floor layout and Trainer placement, but previously cleared Areas remain unlocked.
- Opponent levels rise substantially across the ten Areas, culminating in the Area 10 final challenge.
- Benga is the native facility's Area 10 Boss. After defeating him, return to Alder's house in Floccesy Town with an empty party slot to receive shiny Gible in Black 2 or shiny Dratini in White 2.
- Clearing each Area grants an item reward; the facility is also a source of prize money and experience rather than a level-adjusted battle facility.
Key System
Clearing Area 5 in Black 2 unlocks the Tower Key; clearing Area 5 in White 2 unlocks the Treehollow Key. The Key must be transferred to the opposite version through the original local Unova Link Key System to change the City/Forest setting. A standalone cartridge cannot unconditionally access both facilities, and using the counterpart setting does not grant both native Benga reward Pokémon.
