Pokémon weakness guide

Normal Type Weaknesses and Counters

This guide explains how to counter Normal-type Pokémon, including their weaknesses, resistances, immunities, and the best attacking types to use against them.

Resistances (0)

None

Battle notes

  • Normal-type Pokémon usually have only one defensive weakness, so Fighting attacks are the most direct answer.
  • Ghost Pokémon can be useful defensively against Normal-type moves because they are immune to them, although Ghost attacks do not hit Normal super-effectively by default.
  • Avoid using Ghost attacks into Normal defenders unless an ability, move effect, or format-specific rule changes the matchup.

Best counter types

These attacking types hit the defender for super-effective damage under the modern Gen 6+ type chart.
