Quick Answer

After becoming Champion and receiving the National Pokédex, enter Snowpoint Temple with Regirock, Regice, and Registeel all in your party. Reach the bottom floor and inspect Regigigas. It is level 70 in Diamond/Pearl and level 1 in Platinum.

Requirements

Champion status and National Pokédex

Regirock, Regice, and Registeel simultaneously in the active party

Trade or Pal Park migration for the three Regis in normal Diamond/Pearl progression

Poké Balls, status support, and a save before inspecting Regigigas

Snowpoint Temple procedure

  1. Unlock the temple

After the League and National Pokédex, speak at the Snowpoint Temple entrance. Cynthia's intervention allows the post-game visit.

  2. Build the required party

Place Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in the party at the same time. Having them only in PC storage does not awaken Regigigas.

  3. Navigate the ice floors

Descend through the temple, using the ice tiles, rocks, and stair positions to reach the lowest chamber. Repels make retries easier.

  4. Save and inspect the statue

With all three Regis present, interact with the dormant Regigigas. It battles at level 70 in Diamond/Pearl and level 1 in Platinum.

Two separate Regi systems in Platinum

The ordinary Snowpoint Temple rule is unchanged: the three original Regis must be in the party to awaken Regigigas. Diamond and Pearl do not provide all three through a normal local story route, so trading or Pal Park migration is required.

Platinum also contains three special caves that are unlocked only when a particular event-distributed Regigigas is present. Those caves let the player catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. This old event condition is not the same as awakening Snowpoint Regigigas, and the distribution should not be described as currently obtainable through standard gameplay.

Capture notes

  • Slow Start halves Regigigas's Attack and Speed for its first five turns, creating a safer opening for status and controlled damage.
  • Platinum's level 1 encounter has very little HP; avoid direct high-level attacks and use status plus carefully selected fixed or weak damage.
  • In Diamond/Pearl, running from Regigigas does not make it respawn, so reload the pre-battle save after any failed attempt.
  • In Platinum, a defeated or escaped Regigigas returns after the player enters the Hall of Fame again.

Common Mistakes and Troubleshooting

Leaving one of the three Regis in PC storage instead of the active party.

Assuming Diamond or Pearl provides all three Regis through normal local gameplay.

Confusing Platinum's event Regigigas cave unlock with the Snowpoint awakening requirement.

Using a normal high-level attack against Platinum's level 1 Regigigas.

FAQ

What level is Regigigas in Diamond and Pearl?

Snowpoint Temple Regigigas is level 70 in original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

Why is Regigigas level 1 in Platinum?

Pokémon Platinum deliberately changed the Snowpoint Temple encounter to level 1; it is not a data error.

Do the three Regis need to be in the party?

Yes. Regirock, Regice, and Registeel must all be in the active party when you inspect Regigigas.

Can Platinum catch the three Regis normally?

Only the special caves unlocked by a qualifying event-distributed Regigigas provide them in Platinum. That historical event is separate from normal progression.
