Pokémon Blue Walkthrough

For English-language players, Blue usually refers to the international counterpart to Red, with Blue-side version exclusives and the improved release base.

Japanese Blue was an enhanced release; international Red/Blue were based largely on that improved version.

Key Differences

Japanese Blue was an enhanced release after Japanese Red/Green.
International Red/Blue are based largely on the improved Japanese Blue release rather than the original Japanese Red/Green code/content state.
International Blue fills the counterpart role that Japanese Green had in the original Japanese pair.

Version Pokémon Notes

Notes

Use Blue-side exclusive Pokémon when planning trades with Red.

Japanese Blue and international Blue should not be treated as identical for every encounter detail.
